4 sports ideas to practice with your baby if you are a mother

A woman’s body undergoes many transformations throughout the nine months of pregnancy. A woman will, in spite of herself, take a little more roundness.

Some women may have to say goodbye to the slimmer and more distinct figure. But this is nothing serious, especially when you remember that you can always reclaim your angelic body and make it more beautiful, refined and aesthetic.

Fortunately, you get to do all this in the company of your baby. You can play various sports with your baby, both to lose weight and for their benefit.

We share in this article various fitness secrets that will motivate you to take care of your body and that of your baby.

What are the benefits of sport to a baby?

A baby needs—from an early age—physical exercise to strengthen body muscles. It all starts with the psychomotricity that he exercises at home on his mat or with the accessories that you put at his disposal.

This way, a child learns their body and develops skills such as: crawling, walking, running and jumping.

Physical exercise is also important in the development of automatisms. It promotes better control of movements such as: balance, orientation in space, strength and speed.

1. Kangatraining

Combine business with pleasure by comfortably installing your newborn baby on your gym mat, at home or in a Kangatraining class. This sporting activity hails from Austria and can be practised when a child is as old as eight weeks. It is a great exercise that allows you to gently tone the buttocks, thighs, arms and abdominals.

The infant is comfortably installed in a sling or a baby carrier. The mother is then invited to place the little one on a mat next to her as she proceeds with the exercises.

The session becomes fun as a kiss is offered at each pump! This is enough to give you the motivation you need to achieve your goals and surpass yourself. You will enjoy the smiles, complicity and exchanges as much as muscle building.

2. The Fit Stroller (or the Gym Stroller)

Before the birth of your child, were you used to playing sports and running in the morning? Nothing should stop you from continuing as you can now go running with your baby in the stroller.

You can practice this with your child from the age of 8 weeks. The stroller sessions will allow you to reconcile sport and motherhood.

Take advantage of the sunny days and come and try this sporting activity that has been booming for several years.

You will notice that the stroller acts as a grab bar. This way, you can do cardio exercises, muscle movements, squats, stretching as well as brisk walking, all while staying around your child.

Above all, do not hesitate to motivate your friends, and to find a pleasant place (in a park, or by a lake).

3. A mom-baby dance class

Do you like moving to rhythmic and festive music? Then sign up for a dance-wear class and take a few dance steps with your newborn baby. All you will need is a baby carrier, a sling and a good dose of good humour! You can choose between salsa, oriental or modern jazz.

This is a great way to shed pregnancy pounds while introducing your child to music. You will have fun with your child and also boost your energy levels.

Depending on your child’s age, however, be sure to hold their head if you shake yourself a little too much or if the steps become more intense.

Alternatively, nothing should prevent you from blowing up the music and dancing with your child at home.

4. A baby swimming session

This is more of a child-oriented activity. It allows you to awaken your baby (from 4 months) to promote his development and motor skills. From then on, the link is created, as you share an activity together.

But this is not all, you get to exercise your arms and abdominals as you lift and carry your little one throughout the session.

It is also possible to do leg movements in the water should you choose to run with your child.

During this session, baby swimmers learn to float, and even to dive head first! Laughter, discovery and well-being are on the menu. If you are interested in this activity, please contact your local swimming pool.

What to say?

A new mother needs to find her model body. It is a sign of self-confidence. But, that doesn’t have to be done without the new family member. For this reason, you also have to think about your well-being. Sporting activities with your child will do them a lot of good and who knows, it may inspire their future career choices.
